RailFest October 2005

The WAMRC showed off its greatly enhanced outdoor G-Scale layout at the annual RailFest this year. These pictures were taken at the 2005 RailFest held on 23rd October 2005. This collection of images is courtesy of Brian Seaton.

Chassis-Railer Trailer consist.
Stan Major, Sam Wilde and Len Hughes preside over a consist of Chassis-Railer Trailers with some 12″ to the foot scale examples on the other side of the fence.

Radio controlled live steam.
The specially laid paving slabs just outside the fence allowed the public to get up close and personal to some radio controlled live steam locomotives.

DL38 in background.
The characterstic nose of Pacific National’s DL class loco DL38 can be seen in this shot.

Marshalling yard and turntable.
A good view of the new G-Scale station, turntable and yard. Everything in this shot (except the loco and passenger car) was constructed from scratch in less than 2 months prior to the RailFest.

Willyabrup Station.
Willyabrup Station with some bonsai pot plants forming a stunning backdrop. Willyabrup is a region in WA’s South-West wine growing region (near Margaret River). Although the Flinders Bay light railway passed through the area in the first half of the 20th century, it would never have had a station as grand as this!

Staion and yards.
The “non-public” side of the station and marshalling yard. Note the calibrated pot plant stands.

Willyabrup Station bay platform.
A live steam hauled mixed freight passes around the outside loop, while the passenger car waits in the bay platform at Willyabrup.

Willyabrup Yard.
Another shot of Willyabrup station and yard.

Willyabrup engine shed.
Willyabrup’s open-framed engine shed and silos. Brian Wilde can be seen in the background.
