Christmas Party 2003
The club takes the social side of model railways very seriously and the 2003 Christmas Party held at the clubrooms on the 21st December was one of the best for several years. The new G Scale garden railway provided a fantastic backdrop for the festivities.
The celebration also marked the 80th birthday of long time member Len Hughes. He was presented with the surprise gift of a G Scale locomotive from the fellow members of the G Scale special interest group, scratch built by (then) Vice-President David Williams.

The moment when Len Hughes realises the G Scale loco that he doesn't
recognise is actually his birthday president. Left to right: Ian Reddin (now
a junior member), Garry West, Mark Butler, Len Hughes, and Peter Osment.

Len Hughes thanking everyone.

Mt Newman mining company loco #5499 had run away and derailed in the Rail
Transport Museum whilst being moved with an inch bar a few days before
the party. At the time of the party it still had not been re-railed as
crane access was limited due to the soft ground. It presented an interesting
topic of discussion!
